Rahul Gandhi: Exposed Yet Again

I must salute MJ Akbar for writing one of the most honest articles written in the English language media. He has taken on the scion of the Gandhi family and the future PM of India. It was an exercise in honesty and courage as well and we tip our hat to Mr. Akbar. This is especially refreshing in the wake of the Barkha Dutt / Sanghvi scandal.
The Gandhi scion visited various colleges in cities of Gujarat to woo students to join the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the party’s students’ wing. This was in the same vein and his visit to Lalit Narayan Mithila University in Bihar. It seems that result of those visits have something in common. Rahul was taken to task by the students of Bihar. Things became so bad that he had to be escorted out by security. Congress took the drubbing of a lifetime in the elections following that. Gandhi was not deterred by that and has continued his NSUI recruitment tour. These college appearances are carefully orchestrated by Congress media mavens. They do not allow the media to be present in the lectures and the following Q&A. Obviously, the Congress do not want Rahul’s meeting with India’s best and the brightest to be shown to public lest the Rajkumar gets exposed. Unfortunately, in the day of mobile phones with cameras, nothing is hidden anymore. M J Akbar found out about these meetings in Gujarat and that is the core of the article. Apparently to woo Muslim students, the Congress youth icon reportedly said, “India can change only if Gujarat changed first.” Statements like these have probably not gone down well with the proud Gujaratis who asked Rajkumar that why should they vote for Congress when Narendra Modi is doing such a great job?
To that, Rahul Gandhi said even Mao Zedong, developed China but “he caused destruction to the country, too”.
Now this displays the congress party’s young and charismatic leader Rahul Gandhi’s ignorance, lack of knowledge and the deep hatred for Narendra Modi. First of all Chairman Mao was a dictator and not an elected leader like Modi. Secondly Tienmien Square was a brutal suppression and massacre of students demanding democratic reforms. It cannot be compared to Godhra which were riots triggered as a retaliation for the brutal train burning of the innocent pilgrims by Muslims miscreants’. The Supreme Court- appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) and other similar organizations have been giving a clean chit after clean chit to Gujarat Chief Minister in the 2002 riots cases.
On the topic, M J Akbar rightly says “They have moved on from Mao, just as India and the Congress have moved on from Mahatma Gandhi, but China still reveres the leader of the Long March as the leader who laid the foundations of China’s economic miracle.”

If Modi is compared with Mao for his development work then Indian would be better off to have many more Modis for the nation.

Asking yet another question which a journalist dare not ask, a student asked if Congress had any leaders who could stand next to Bhai Narendra. To that, the Rajkumar named Manmohan Singh, P Chidambaram, Jairam Ramesh and A K Antony. Thing to note is that only one of these has contested and won a Lok Sabha election! The sole elected leader, P Chidambaram is an extremely unpopular man in his own constituencies. Recent allegations made by the intrepid Subramanyan Swamy portray the Home Minister in really unflattering lights.
Needless to say, the Congress attempts to make the Rajkumar look good ended up exposing his intellectual dishonesty. In fact the aam aadmi is still waiting to see if he has any good in him other than his looks. All the attempts to make him sound smart and a caring leader have blown up in the Congress faces. His family name has carried him far and if the voters are not careful, all the way to the PM’s seat. That would a cruel joke on the nation and undeserved reward for this false prophet. As the Bible says: "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits."
Why do I use a quote from the Bible? It is to make it easier for the Congress party people and supporters to understand what we are talking about.

The Mao of Gujarat By: M J Akbar
''If Modi can become the second Gujarati to have his picture on rupee, he will consider his life well spent.''

The unnamed young students of Ahmedabad who had a question or two for Rahul Gandhi this week were pertinent, not pert. They also provided more evidence that students are doing the job that journalists either cannot, or will not, do; which is, ask relevant questions.
The essence was simple and the same: students wanted to know why they should vote for the Congress when Narendra Modi had developed Gujarat so much. One answer given by Rahul Gandhi was odd, to say the very least. Mao Zedong, said Rahul Gandhi, also developed China but “he caused destruction to the country, too”. I am not too sure whether Narendra Modi would mind being compared to one of the great figures of the 20th century, warts and all.
A young girl was sharper in her question. She asked which Congress leaders could measure up to Modi on the development matrix. Rahul Gandhi had four names on the tip of his tongue: Manmohan Singh, P Chidambaram, Jairam Ramesh and A K Antony. It is interesting that three of the four did not contest the Lok Sabha elections.
