People are expecting names of corrupt Indian politicians and officials from the Wikileaks documents. Why should that be a surprise? It would be mor surprising if the Wikileaks revealed the names of honest politicians and babus. The first of the cables from the US embassy reveal a couple of things that are no surprise but stll reveal a lot about us as a country. The current US Ambassador Roemer opined that India showed no willingness to attack Pakistan even after 26/11 attacks. Goes to show you what kind of respect the Americans have for us. No one respects cowards. Our leaders pride themselves in being patient but what they forget is that (in words of George Jackson) "Patience has it's limits. Take it too far and it's cowardice". Our leaders have taken it to a place which is beyond too far. Roemer's words also indicate how serious are the Americans in supporting India for International leadership roles (eg. UNSC).
But what is worse than being chided by a strong country is being chided and mocked by a third rate, hellhole of a country like Pakistan. Another wikileaks document shows that the head of the ISI warned the Israelis about the danger to their interests in India. Did the pakis warn the Indians? Hell no!! And why pray, is that? Simply because the pakis, as much as they hate the jewish state are scared of them. They know that the Israelis do not sit and put up with attacks. However, they are not at all scared of A Hindu India. While the pakis have lost all the wars with us, they know that all the wars were initiated by them. India cannot and will not attack them. They know it. It's only when the attack on India is an open war and the Indian army gets involved then the Inadian leaders have no choice but to OK a defensive war. In case of a terrorist attack there is deniability and thus gives the politicians an easy way out.
Of course the pakis have become brave hiding behind the nuclear umbrella. Those very nukes do make it difficult for our leaders to declare an open war as we saw it during Operation Parakram in the aftermath of the attack on the Lok Sabha. But does that mean that the pakis can continue to attack us and we have no way out of it. Should we start thanking the pakis for not attacking us more often? One thing we can do is to start paying the pakis in the same coin. We need start covert warfare in Pakistan. Pakistanis are already blaming us for it. May as well make their allegation come true. We find fault lines there and exploit them. A good start would be Balochistan and Sindh. We should support every Balochi and Sindhi who has a grudge against the Pakistani Punjabis. We need to really raise the cost of hurting India to a level when the paki army also gives up. All we need is to have a leader with some guts, some pride and very little patience. The leader should be from the older genration who still nurse a love for our "brothers" from across the border. It is not a lot to ask for but is it from Manmohan Singh.
WikiLeaks: US mocks India
New Delhi: The first of the 3,038 cables sent from the US embassy in New Delhi have now been uploaded - and the details are likely to cause some strain between India and the US. To begin with the US embassy seems to doubt India's Cold Start doctrine.Cold start is the quick military response strategy framed after 2002 Parliament attack. The cable from current ambassador Timothy Roemer points out India showed no willingness to attack Pakistan even after the audacious Mumbai 26/11 attacks.
