BJP, Reddy Brothers and Electoral Reforms

It is said that one should do whatever it takes to win the election and then do whatever one thinks is right. So in all democracies, this applies to election promises. They are made and then broken. All this gets justified in the name of greater good. But what about all the money which gets spent? After all that is not someone’s trust fund or family wealth. If black money is spent, which is how, it is, and then the money supplier would want something in return unlike the voter who has been lied to. This is where it gets dirty.

In the last general elections, Congress spent more than 400 crores. BJP spent more than 200 crores. That is a lot of money. We know that Congress has some of the richest MPs. They also have lines into old as well as corrupt money. They have ruled the nation for most of our post independence existence. They set things up to their advantage. That is why; other parties could not compete with them. Between HR Bharadwaj like governors, Congress leaning Election Commissioners and bureaucrats and endless money they had a comfortable run. When in trouble, there was emergency to be imposed. Congress has had no reason for electoral reforms.

BJP has become a viable and a better alternative but they need money besides impeccable credentials. This is where the BJP lose their way. They need moneymen like Pramod Mahajan who can access large amounts of money to be spent on elections. Where do the BJP moneymen get their money from? That is where the Reddy brothers come in. With wink and nods from CMs from Andhra and Karnataka, these two crooks have been selling iron ore to the Chinese and pocketing the money. Of course they have been sharing their wealth with politicians from all the parties. How else can YSR Reddy family wealth be around 476 crores? Jagan Reddy has built a house, which looks like a huge modern church. And yet the focus of media is on the relations of Reddy brothers with the BJP. Fair enough. If the BJP does something wrong, they need to be hauled over coals because they are the party with a difference. We expect Congress and others to be corrupt. However, if the BJP does not indulge in this kind of hanky-panky, then they have no prayer against the Congress.

So what is the solution? Electoral reforms are the answer. We need our own version of McCain-Feingold law, which has made American politicians more honest than they have been. I do not have any suggestions to that end. But if somehow, the playing field became level for everyone, then we will not have the need for money for bribing the voters or horse-trading after hung elections verdicts.

Links with Jagan put Reddy in spot
JaganKarnataka'S tourism minister Gali Janardhan Reddy may have scored a partial victory in his battle against chief minister B. S. Yeddyurappa, but his problems in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh are mounting. Reddy's close ties with Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy have apparently landed him in trouble with the K. Rosaiah government.

Delusional Pakistanis and Kashmiri Seperatists

One can safely say that this has been a bad month for the Pakistanis. Fist they get caught in the worst possible lie about the numero uno terror meister living next to the Paki fauji academy. This was explained by incompetence because complicity makes them look like terrorists themselves. What a choice! Then the much-vaunted Paki army’s reputation takes a blow when the Navy SEAL 6 team with a dog enters the Paki air space, does whatever they wanted to do and walked out. In your face “hope of the Muslim world”! This was especially tough for the Pakistani populace because they always believed that all things failing, the Paki army always worked and delivered. They were also fed unadulterated crap like “one Pakistani soldier is equal to five India soldiers”. The poor people of Pakistan woke up to find that despite all that was said in the vernacular news media, the Paki army was as incompetent and rotten as the rest of the nation. I recently read that these people have been led to believe that the Taliban who are attacking inside of Pakistan are actually Hindus because they were uncircumcised. I don’t know whether to laugh at these people or pity them. Nevertheless, the carefully cultivated image of the Pakistani army took a kick in the gut from a metal tipped boot. Serves them right.

While we were still enjoying that, we find out that six terrorists walked on to a secure naval base in Mehran, Karachi, blew up two P3C Orion planes (each costing around 35 million dollars), raised mayhem for 15 hours, killed a number of naval personnel and then two of them escaped. If there was anything left as far as reputation of the Paki army, this attack took care of it. God only knows how secure are those nukes.

So what we have in Pakistan is a nation, which managed to get $ 670 million less than Bangladesh in direct investments. All in all nothing seems to be working. There are attacks every day. Anyone with any ability is fleeing the nation to go and work for the kafirs in the west. The ones abroad especially in the US who work non-permanent jobs pretend to be Indians to get a favorable treatment (we wrote about this on our blog last year). If Pakistan is not a failed nation then it most certainly is running towards the status.

Despite of all the Paki follies, the head of the All Party Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq went to Belgium to meet with essentially a Pakistani crowd and especially the ISI chief. This delusional demagogue is looking towards Pakistan for a solution. Does anyone think that Pakistan can provide a solution to anything? Asking them to solve anything is like asking a drug addict advice on self-control! Instead of blaming the Congress and its puppet government in J&K, they are looking in a dark abyss for light. Instead of joining with the rest of Indian Muslims especially the ones in Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh and enjoying the benefits of an upwardly mobile economy in India, they are trying to cause terror to join with a basket case perhaps the biggest one in the world. More and more people from J&K are joining IAS and other such services. Hopefully their success stories will open the eyes of the younger generation especially the girls who are really tormented by the fundamentalists. Until then, we will have the blind trying to follow the really blind.

Misrule Of India By Congress

How do you spell unprincipled? C-O-N-G-R-E-S-S
If there was any doubts about the lows that this outfit will sink to for power, we can lay them to rest. Congress has a history of fomenting troubles and problems in the nation for personal gains. Communal riots are instigated for putting the fear into the minority community so that they remain part of the vote-bank. Sleazy governors are placed in states where non-Congress parties are in power. This has been an old practice from Indira Gandhi days. What Bharadwaj tried to pull in Karnataka was nothing more than a lap-dog trying to bark the loudest in order to please his master. Is there any law, rule , norm or ethic sacred to these guys? The answer is an overwhelming NO.
Now Mayawati is the reason (along with Mulayam Yadav) that a state brimming with potential is nothing more than drain on the nation’s resources. She is a corrupt person. Taj corridor case was just one of the major scams in UP. The 250 crore grains for poor scam was a smaller scam however it more than made up with its sleaze and depravity factor. Yet compared to other CM’s she is small potatoes. YSR Reddy’s son recently declared that he is worth 476 crores (Mayawati is less than 100 crores). We are still finding out how much is Karunanidhi worth. We will never find out how much are the national level politicians worth. As far as crime in UP politics is concerned, well they can match up with the worst. However it turns out that West Bengal has the highest number of criminals in the legislature. We don’t even know how much influence will the Maoists have over the Bannerjee government. And yet, to score points with the voters of UP, Rahul Gandhi was found lying about the farmer uprising in western UP with his mother in tow to bail him out. This was done not out of any love for the farmer but with next year elections in mind. Last time the Congress was relevant in UP was in 1980s. Rahul was still young as opposed to the middle aged single guy that he is now. The worst thing is that the lies he spoke were those of rape and murder and those are very inflammatory. If we were not living in a 24 hour ubiquitous media age where information dissemination is very efficient (fairness is still not there), people in rural areas would have started to protest, maybe violently to support their farmer brethren in western UP. If any blood got spilled because of that, it would have been on the hands of the Congress! Someone in Congress needs to coach this guy that words can do serious damage instead of getting you votes.
Of course if this was not enough, the UPA has confirmed the appointment of Binayak Sen as a member of the planning commission, the chairman of which is the PM. Binayak Sen has been convicted on the charge of sedition. SEDITION! It is a serious offense, punishable by death or other serious ways in most parts of the civilized world and worse in the uncivilized. Of course in India, if you are a pseudo secular liberal, all gets forgiven. If on top of all that, you are a religious minority (Sen is a Christian), you are released on bail and appointed to one of the highest civilian bodies in the country. This is an outrage to end all the outrages. Of course, as Prof. Vaidyanathan says, even though the PM is the Chairman of this commission, he will plead ignorance. Again, we have people who voted for Congress and continue to do that are to be thanked.
Meanwhile yet another indicator of the liberal hatred for India is shown by recent lies by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. This man was given permission to attend a conference on Kashmir in Brussels. All this while, I thought that Kashmir was India’s internal matter. Since Farooq who is the chairman of the APHC was given permission by the UPA to attend this conference, then the UPA must think that the conference was a genuine reason for Farooq to leave the country while denying the permission to other leftists like Dileep Padgaonkar and Siddharth Vardarajan. Imagine that. Our leftists were invited to hang out with our enemies. By this whole event, the UPA is conveying to the world that Kashmir is an international issue and we do not care who says what about it. Meanwhile the other luminaries in the conference were all from Pakistan. It seems that at this conference, Farooq met with the ISI head. Predictable, when asked Farooq has resorted to “al taqiyya”. If this is the way, UPA is going to solve the J&K terror problem, then I hope that Bholenath is working overtime to save our lives.

Binayak Sen: Convicted of sedition, advising the plan panel
R Vaidyanathan
Suddenly, the mainstream media (MSM), which is part of the civil society jholawalas, forgot about the rule of law and the need to respect judicial verdicts. Then the Supreme Court gave him bail, which was reported by the MSM as Sen “walking free”. That is a distortion since he is still a convicted person and is out on bail. Sedition, as we all understand, is a serious charge and there are civil rights groups that carefully tabulate the number of convicts and accused criminals standing for election. They have reported the number of persons with a criminal background in the various legislative assemblies and even in parliament.

Chidambaram and India's Leaky Security

It has been more than two years since the Mumbai attacks. That attack which killed people who mattered unlike numerous other which killed the aam aadmi. One would have thought that after Mumbai attacks and getting rid of the “spectacularly incompetent” Shivraj Patil, we would have tightened our belt. After all, the infinitely more capable P Chidambaram is now the sheriff. The alumnus of Loyola College and Harvard University was supposed to fix our leaky security.

Emboldened by the US success in Abottabad, our people also started to feel tough. They talked tough and they walked tough. They felt it was time to push Pakistan into a corner. So we submitted a list of 50 terrorists hiding in Pakistan and hoped that forced by defeat in Abottabad and under the influence of Biryani from Mohali, the Pakistanis would relent and surrender these men. If this act was not one of absolute desperation, it was compounded by abject incompetence. It turns out that out of the fifty, two guys were living in India. Talk about an ostrich egg in our faces!

Of course instead of apology, what we get are poor attempts at deflecting blames. How representative of the UPA government. Nothing is ever their fault. How could this have happened? Well other than the abject incompetence of the Babus, we have couple of other reasons.

a. The home ministry is never interested in going after Indian Muslims who help the Pakistani terrorists. In the aftermath of the 26/11 attacks, how many India helpers were arrested? Are we to believe that the pakis did all that without any local logistics help?

b. The home minister has been busy coming up with original terms like saffron terror and arresting all those Hindu terrorists. He does not have time for the real terrorists. Arrest of Hindu terrorists makes the Muslim vote bank and the secularists / leftists happy. If the home minister and his babus are to be believed the biggest threats to Indian security are Sadhvi Pragya and others. Of course if the potato gets too hot, some IAS officer will come out and swear that Bhai Narendra Modi was actually sharpening knives the day after Godhra train station massacre!

It is too much to ask the UPA ministers to do the honorable thing. God forbid if any of them should accept any blame for the never-ending saga of corruption and incompetence. I guess we can thank all those who voted for the UPA / Congress and continue to do so.

A Shoddy Counter-Terrorism Data-Base
By B. Raman
More than two years after the 26/11 terrorist strikes in Mumbai and the setting-up of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Government of India continues to have a shoddy counter-terrorism data-base. That is the inevitable conclusion from the current controversy over an embarrassing professional and diplomatic faux pas relating to the alleged inclusion of the name of Wazhul Kamar Khan, a terrorism suspect living on bail with his family in Thane in Maharashtra, in a list of 50 terrorism suspects allegedly enjoying sanctuary in Pakistan.

Another man in India's most wanted list for Pak in Mumbai
In an embarrassing goof-up, another man named in India's Most Wanted list of terrorists allegedly hiding in Pakistan was found to be in a a Mumbai jail facing trial in the 1993 serial blasts case. Listed in the dossier as criminal No.24, Feroze Abdul Rashid Khan has been shown as an accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case along with the absconding mafia don Dawood Ibrahim. But it came to be known that Feroz Khan was actually in Mumbai's fortified Arthur Road Central Jail and facing trial, official sources said.

Kerala & Tamil Nadu Elections

The Good

a. DMK the corrupt family dynasty party of the Karunanidhi has been dealt a severe blow. Karunanidhi’s advanced age, incompetent and corrupt second tier leadership and infighting in the family are now casting long shadows. The sun is about to finally set for DMK. Couldn’t have happened sooner. Couldn’t have happened more definitively. Couldn’t have happened to a more miserable family.
b. The Tamil voter’s sensibility is commendable. DMK saw the writing on the wall and started to distribute money and goods to bribe the voters in creative ways to hide it from the EC. They got away with it. In urban areas DMK got wiped out. In rural areas, it would seem that people took money and yet voted against DMK. I suppose that some of that black money from Switzerland is back with people of TN. More power to them!

c. AIADMK spectacular comeback was also possible because of Jayalalitha’s softening stances to form smart alliance in order to avoid splitting of the anti DMK votes. She went against her nature and made compromises with smaller players and reaped benefits. I hope that she continues on that road of compromise and all inclusive administration.

d. It was the finest hour for the Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, the most popular CPM leader who gave the congress led UDF run for their money in the close Kerala election.

e. Except for re-polling in five assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu and two in Kerala because of the malfunctioning of the EVMs and minor skirmishes the election was by and large very peaceful with heavy voter turnout.

The Bad

f. Though Jayalalitha reached out to the people by picking up issues like rampant corruption, poor road conditions, power cuts and alleged DMK goondaism, she quickly initiated DMK like tricks to win people’s hearts and announced a slew of freebies like mixer, grinder and fans. She needs to realize that it is performance not freebies which will win her hearts, minds and the next term.

g. Right after winning the elections with a massive mandate, Jayalalitha fired a salvo at the SriLankan President Rajapaksa when she said that he must be tried for war crimes before the International Court of Law. She has to remember that AIADMK is a regional party and needs to first focus on the pressing state issues. Though Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (the Liberation Tigers party) lost in all the 10 constituencies it fielded candidates proves that the plight of the Lankan Tamils is not high in the list of priorities of the Tamil Nadu people, but still JJ Amma chose to make a statement in her very first address after winning the elections. Moreover, she may have taught herself the art of politics in TN but has little idea of international politics. The central govt. is trying its best to limit Chinese influence in Sri Lanka (eg. The Hambantota port). Provocative statements against the SL PM does the nation more harm to Indian interests that it does good to the SL Tamils. In this regards she needs to take lessons from Nitish Kumar who has kept quiet and has been solving one problem after another.

h. The communism in Kerala still seems to be a viable option and an alternative. The keralites seem content with the status co and do not wish to embrace development and progress. They almost elected a communist government. If they had, they would be the only piece of real estate in the world governed by an elected communist government!

The Ugly

i. J. Jayalalitha too succumbed to the vote bank politics ploy of the DMK and Congress by promising trips to Bethlehem for Christians just like the Muslims go for the Haj Pilgrimage if voted to power. Now that would become precedence for other Christian dominated states like Kerala to follow. These are tricks used by pseudo-secularists and not by a woman who was brave enough to take on the religious conversions in her state.

j. The BJP, the opposition conservative nationalist party failed to open an account yet again in spite of high hopes in some four to five constituencies this election. The religious parties like the Muslim League and the Kerala Congress of the Kerala Christians formed alliances to defeat the BJP candidates. The Congress and allies won maximum seats in Muslim-dominated Mallapuram and Christian belts Ernakulam and Kottayam. The CPM and allies won in Kannur, Kozhikode, Kollam, Palakkad, Alappuzha and Thiruvananthapuram, which all have significant Hindu concentration. This clearly demonstrates that the secular Hindus voted for the CPM whereas the communal Muslims and the Christians voted for their religious communities. The voting pattern displayed a communal polarization across the state, with Christians and Muslims consolidating behind Congress-led UDF and the Hindu areas going with the CPM-led LDF. This reflects poorly on Hindus and Christians. By going with communists, the Hindus are blatantly abandoning their interests and empowering those who hate their faith. One of the many examples of that is the blatant misuse of Hindu temple funds by the commies for their own nefarious purposes. By aligning with the Muslims, the Christians are exhibiting myopia. They have forgotten the Madani inspired fundamentalists who chopped the hands of the Christian professor not too long ago! If they cannot use common sense and see who will take care of their interests then at least listen to Pope Benedict who has spoken clearly against Islamic fundamentalism. Their hatred for Hindus is clouding their judgment and they are creating a monster who is SURE to bite them in near future.

Law and Order, Congress Ishtyle!

Just when you thought that we had heard and seen it all from the UPA govt. as far as terrible decisions are concerned, here comes a real whopper. In their infinite wisdom, the Congress led UPA has decided to drop the names of all Sikh terrorists from the blacklist. Now these men with a lot of blood on their hands can roam around freely without and fear. Not that they had anything to fear while on the black list. It was not like the tough guys in charge of our hapless nations were going to do an Abottabad on them. You see being Gandhians and the top leader being Catholic, we believe in turning the other cheek. We practice restraints unlike those wild impulsive cowardly Americans who just drop in any country and take out terrorists. No, we are better than them. We are a peace loving country. In fact while we are at it, we may as well drop the names of various Muslim terrorists hiding in Pakistan and elsewhere. Since we are not going to do anything about it other than demand Pakistan to do the right thing, we may as well abandon the charade.

UPA claims to have consulted the security agencies. Somehow I find it hard to believe that. This was a political decision. Is this being done to strengthen Congress in Punjab? Their logic, which I do not understand, is as follows:

The Home Ministry decision follows the Delhi High Court order to it on February 9 to take a decision on a petition that pleaded that the list of 169 Sikhs should be reviewed as it has led to "unnecessary harassment" to various individuals at different airports and embassies across the world due to non-renewal of their passports by the Indian government.

Wow, the terrorists were being harassed at the airports which is why did this. Maybe they will let the Home Ministry know about other life problems and which will then be solved with the help of UPA! What perplexes me is that the Delhi SGMC chief is going along with this. I know that a lot of water has passed under the bridge since 1984 and it may have become politically incorrect to use the word terrorist along with Sikh but the fact still remains that killers like Ripudaman Singh is responsible of 1985 AI Kanishka bombing. And now thanks to the current GoI, they are all even more free if that is really possible.

If the Home Ministry and the UPA were so confident that they were doing the right thing then why was this decision conveyed to us after the elections?

But the irony is that Congressis who wre responsible for the massacre of Sikhs in the riots following Indira Gandhis assasination are enjoying freedom. Now all the terrorists who were responsible for killing of innocents people all over are also free. The billion dollar question is: Where is the justice for the dead?

Elections in Bengal and Assam

The Good:
a. Communists have been handed a thorough drubbing. We won’t have to look at the incompetent, violence backed self-righteousness from Karat et. al. Good riddance to putrid trash. People of WB seem to have woken up from a deep red slumber.

b. Seemingly fair and violence free elections in Assam and WB. People defied heat and threats to vote. These are signs of a mature democracy.

c. Gogoi has used all his political acumen to win a third term despite of mediocre to bad performance. A shrewd political manipulator like his ilk in Kerala.

d. Gogoi has made overtures to the ULFA and used their help to win the elections. Maybe now there can be a lasting peace and ULFA will give up their murderous ways and stop providing the ISI with yet another way to hurt us.

e. MB (Mamta Bannerjee’s long and tenacious tapasya has finally yielded her what she wanted). I hope she proves Oscar Wilde wrong who said, "In life there are only two tragedies. One is not getting what you want, the other is getting it."

The Bad:
a. MB is an activist leader and not a politician leader. A rabble-rouser and extremely honest, she is more like Mahmoud Ahmadinijad than Bhai Narendra Modi. Her performance in the railways stands out because of all the SOPs for WB rather than her performance. She used the Railways as her own ATM to fund her victory in WB rather than using black money stowed away in Switzerland. Performing worse than Laloo Yadav is not exactly and endorsement of any kind.

b. I am afraid that she is going to turn out just like Chandrababu Naidu who used to use his MPs in the central govt. as leverage for unlimited funds from Atalji’s govt. MB is now going to ask for disproportionate funds for WB. While the central govt. should help out WB recover from communist inflicted wounds, giving them too much money at the expense of other poor states is unfair. What is even unfair is that the taxpayers of Gujarat and Karnataka are now going to fund WB and get lesser funds than is commensurate with their contribution.

c. MB needs to start from scratch and build WB following examples of Bhai Narendra. She needs to examine the strength of the workforce of WB and try to attract industries that can provide employment by offering them SOPs. This is a taller order than suggested. Workers in WB are used to excessive entitlements like large amounts of holidays. I worked in WB in a factory where each worker had more than sixty days of paid vacation every year. This on top of large number of national and state holidays. If you attach weekends to it, you really wonder how much did they work? Mamta’s real challenge would be changing the work habits of the workers over there without upsetting them. The workers need to realize that they will have to sacrifice their vacation time and reward the investors with hard work. In other words look at Gujarat.

The Ugly:
a. MB used the Maoists to break into the red bastion. If we think that those terrorists are going to walk away from this kind of a Faustian pact, then we are mistaken. They will demand their pound of flesh eventually and she will have to pay. By that it means the aam aadmi will have to pay.

b. MB also pried away the Muslim voters from the communists by all kinds of appeasement tricks. They would now demand their pound of flesh. That would be lesser of the worries. What worries me more is that now with the new empowerment, they will harass the hapless Hindus of WB. Expect more repeats of the Deganga episodes. In my mind, choosing between the communists and a govt. backed by Maoists and the Muslim vote bank (I am talking the fatwa driven Muslim voters) is like choosing between jumping from a tall building and a taller building.

c. Gogoi has taken a huge risk by talking peace with the ULFA. If they do not respond to his peace overtures then there will be hell to pay for the aam aadmi in Assam.

d. People of WB have voted out the communists but they still get 40% of the total votes. NO MISTAKE. IT IS 40%. Congress is ruling the nation is less that 30% of votes.

e. BJP’s performance has been miserable. The BJP leaders’ lack of focus and knowledge about the WB electorate was prominently on display. Thirty five years of communism has taken deep roots in WB. Even in defeat the commies polled 40% and yet the BJP contested all the seats instead of concentrating the efforts on the winnable seats. Of course the flip side of this is that they may have realized that they are not going to win any seats and by contesting all the seats they are trying to position themselves for the future. If that is the case then it was a good ploy only if local leaders are nurtured who will work with the RSS and other grass root Hindu organizations to build a base for the future.

f. If the BJP had made a pre-poll alliance with their old partners AGP, they would have won Assam. Either the BJP leadership or (most likely) the AGP made an extremely costly mistake. Yet another example of the arrogance of the regional parties handing over advantage to a corrupt UPA.

g. The day after counting is done, the UPA has raised petrol prices by Rs.5. My congratulations to all the voters who have ensured victory of the Congress and their partners.

Hypocrisy of the Indian Left: More Examples

This is what we wrote in one of our blogs last year.

You can see how everything and everyone is just a tool towards sating her enormous ego. The chutzpah of this woman is astounding. She has this fetish for the adivasi lifestyle. She contributed to book called We Are One: A Celebration of Tribal Peoples. The proceeds for the book go to an international Tribal rights organization. She has become a spokesperson for Maoist terror which has become quite a leftist cause cé·lè·bre. She has called them Gandhians with guns. Chief Maoist terrorist Kishenji has said that he wants her to be an intermediary in their talks with the UPA government. Yet in her own life, she has built a house on tribal land in MP belonging to Vijay Singh Desh in Hoshangabad's Pipariya district, 200 km from Bhopal. In word’s of Smt. Singh, "First, they constructed their houses on my land and then the road. When we pointed out that the place they were using for constructing their house and road was ours, they didn't pay any attention because we are poor people,". To point out her hypocrisy at this point would be superfluous

This year we found out something that has sort of restored our faith in the India judiciary. The wheels of justice move slowly the world over. They even more slowly in India but amazingly they do. Roy’s house in MP has been made on land she has usurped from the very adivasis she proclaims to love. Now a court has ruled in favor of the adivasis and has ordered the house to be razed. I for one would love to get front row seats for this great event.
In yet another story where what was not said seems to be more indicative of the hypocritical Indian left. While the world is breathing a sigh of relief over the removal of Al Qaeda’s chief from circulation, the Indian leftists led by Digvijay Singh are lamenting the way his body was disposed. However no one seems to be bothered by the fact that the Delhi branch of the Tablighi Jamaat has been helping Al Qaeda members with travel documents and other logistic support as per wikileaks documents.
Pointing out hypocrisy of the Indian leftists and liberals is like as easy as pointing out the blue part of the sky on a clear sunny day. God save us from them!

Order to demolish Arundhati bungalow - Illegal land row
Bhopal, April 21: Arundhati Roy’s hilltop bungalow in a protected forest area will be demolished, a Madhya Pradesh revenue court ruled today upholding a lower court’s judgment that the land was acquired illegally. The bungalow at Bariyam village in Panchmarhi, 250km southeast of Bhopal, stands on a 4,346sqft plot that the author’s husband, filmmaker Pradeep Kishan, had bought in 1994.

Indians Pseudo-Seculars and Their Fatwas

The basic tenet of all kinds of demagoguery is “my way or no way”. There is no room for dissension or difference of opinion. Ego and ideology win over the individual at all cost. Freedom of speech and thought are the sacrificial lambs at that altar. Such leaders pass diktats, which need to be followed at all costs. Does it sound familiar? Yes it does. It sounds like a mullah in an Islamic backwater hellhole passing a fatwa. From that perspective, there is no difference between a Mullah and a leftist / pseudo-secularist.

One would think that in a mature democracy like India, people would get used to respecting dissenting opinions. Someone from the conservative party has the right to give credit and accompanying praise to someone from the left. Of course the versa to that vice should also be true. However, when someone from the leftist mold like the intrepid Anna Hazare makes the mistake of praising Bhai Narendra Modi, the leftists come down on him like a ton of bricks. They would not even allow Anna to exercise civility towards a democratically elected leader of this country.

The liberals have a certain image of the country in their mind. Bhai Narendra has made Gujarat into a success story unmatched by any other state practicing a unabashed “in your face” kind of nationalism along with smart and honest leadership. His success has been an eyesore to them. Unfortunately for all of us, the post Godhra riots happened on his watch and despite his best abilities, nearly 2000 people that included over 700 Hindus died. I don’t think Bhai Narendra looks at the whole episode with anything except disgust. It’s like a disgusting fly on a beautiful, huge plate of mithai. But it did give his opponents a twig to beat him with. He has gone through more agni-pareekshas than any other politician in our history and has come out of them unscathed. Even then, the shameless pests keep trying to bring down the only success story in India. I personally belief that their hatred for Bhai Narendra is deep seated in their own rotten psyche of self hatred but for arguments sake, I would assume that they think the this man who has been proven innocent more number of times than would be necessary, is somehow guilty. Well playing along with their warped and perverted argument, I would like to say that this is the perfect opportunity to bring up all the riots, which happened during the non-BJP rule. In fact during the BJP rule, most states have enjoyed communal peace. It is because with BJP at the helm, no one benefits from these riots. When Congress or any similar party is in power, communal riots make the religious minorities feel unsafe and forces them the ruling party’s fold.

The following is a very small list of all the riots, which have happened in our young nation’s history. It is clear that the almost all of them happened on the Congress’ watch and yet no one seems to be interested in bringing anyone from that party to justice.

I was in college when anti Sikh riots happened in the aftermath of Indira Gandhi assassination. Forget about the whys and the whos. For the safety of our Sikh professors, they were moved to our hostels. I remember them huddled in our mess together. A proud people reduced to refugee status because of Congress thuggery and they have the guts to call anyone anything at all. SHAME ON THEM!

Brave Indian Soldiers & Cowardly Politicians

While reading about the exploits of the Seal 6 teams I got goose bumps. What bravery, what confidence! I decided to explore exploits of Indian soldiers. Amazingly, every example I read had two things in common. It showed that our boys are every bit as capable as the best in the world. They may not be able to match up with the size of the US navy seals but more that make up for that in heart and bravado. The other thing, which was common, was the indecisiveness and cowardice of our leaders. Such is the story of our unfortunate nation. I will provide some examples of our soldiers’ exploits. Our history is replete with examples of bravery of individual soldiers. The Indian soldiers were sent to the front in summer clothes for a high altitude battle armed with outdated rifles. Indian lambs were cast to the Chinese hyenas.
As Gen Suman says: Despite numerous sagas of gallantry, the country suffered terrible embarrassment. India was on its knees. With national morale and pride in tatters, India was forced to appeal to all nations for military aid. Inept and incompetent leadership had forced a proud nation to find solace in Lata Mangeshkar’s ‘Ae Mere Watan Ke Logo’.
Battle of Longewala which has been described as the modern day Battle of Thermopyle is yet another example of poor preparation by the decision makers. An extremely audacious attack by the Pakistanis who rolled into India with what would have been an overwhelming force. They were right in their calculation that no one would expect them to attack the Ganganagar border. Now these Paki soldiers have been taught that one Pakistani soldier is equal to 5 Indian soldiers. The attacked us with 3000 thousand Paki soldiers and 22 armored regiment. As per Paki calculations India would need 15000 soldiers to defend. What they eventually found out was that the math they had been taught was wrong. These people were stopped in their tracks by an extremely brave group of 84 soldiers. When morning came, the Pakis were destroyed by the IAF. Between this and other incidences, we see that their blind hatred for India has made the Pakistanis into a glutton for punishment.
The 1972 war was won because Mrs. Gandhi was being advised by the Indian defense forces. She had the good sense to follow the advice. That we lost any advantage due to our win is another sign of our weak and indecisive leadership.
Kargil was yet another example of poor leadership and preparedness by our leadership which put our boys in the harm’s way. That they came out victors is a testament to their bravery and not to the leadership.
Some more research and a timely article tell us a tale of the Indian special forces. It seems that 24 years ago, two Indian naval officers were sent to the US to train with the SEALs. This is the same group which took out bin Laden. These two guys came back and trained more Indian soldiers and that led to the formation of the Indian Marine Special Forces. The exploits of these men is even more special that the Seal 6 team which took out bin Laden because these boys were not equipped with any stealth equipment. Armed with what we have and their guts, they carried out missions which would make any Indian burst at the seams with pride. Here is one of the examples:
In the next few years the IMSF would see action all over the Jaffna peninsula as the IPKF battled the LTTE in Sri Lanka. The first time the IMSF would see action would be a hazardous operation to blow up the Jaffna jetty. This was a crucial link to the LTTE’s suicide boats that was threatening the IPKF’s naval supply ships as well as the Sri Lankan navy. India’s naval operations decided to use the first batch of the IMSF to put together a team that would take out the jetty.
Naturally, the man they chose to lead the operation was Lt Arvind Singh. In the late hours of a summer night, Singh and his men slipped off an Indian naval ship and began to swim towards their objective a good 10-12 km away. Carrying their weapons and demolitions, the team slipped into the Jaffna harbour and laid their charges. As soon as the jetty blew up, the LTTE immediately detected the IMSF team and began to harass them with withering fire. Singh and his men returned the fire and began their long swim back to their ship. They returned without any casualties and, a year later, Singh would walk up the steps of Rashtrapati Bhawan to receive his Maha Vir Chakra.
If the story of the bravery of these guys is inspiring then the story behind the political management of the special forces is a reminder of the bankruptcy of our political leadership. In his article Saikat Dutta says the following: Since then, the Indian SF has been put through a series of blunders. At one point, while there was a severe lack of resources to modernise the SF, army headquarters began an ill-advised expansion. More battalions were converted into an SF role, but in reality they had no equipment, training and therefore, no special capabilities. Many within the SF community opposed this tooth and nail but failed to anticipate the political machinations of a vested few. In the end, the expansion took place and we continue to pay for this mammoth blunder even today.
Lately there has been a lot of tall talk by Indian politicians (even from the BJP leadership) about how we can carry out raids like Abottabad but we like to show restraint. The cruel joke hidden in that statement is not lost on anyone.
Not only have our leaders destroyed the capabilities of our special forces boys but they have also bungled up every attempt at setting up a central command for crisis management. A centralized crisis management set up may have taken care of the hijacked plane in Amritsar instead of letting it go to Kandahar. Whatever semblance of such a crisis management group we have has politicians and IAS babus who are more interested in protecting their turf and their own careers rather than the nation.

Who Dares Wins
SAIKAT DATTA
A team from 9 Para (SF) would cross the line of control to raid a major Pakistani artillery gun position in Mandhol. The team returned after destroying all the guns and with just two minor casualties. In the scorching deserts of Rajathsan, a young prince from Jaipur led a team of 10 Para (SF) to raid the Pakistani town of Chachro in Sind. Legend has it that when Bhawani Singh was returning with his raiders, the Indian BSF opened fire on them thinking they were Pakistanis! No one could believe that an Indian army team could slip across the international border, hit a major town and return back to base successfully.

Taking on the Enemy at Longewala
In every conflict there comes a turning point. In the 1971 war against Pakistan, the Battle of Longewala in the western sector was one such point. Not only was the Pak attack dented, but it was also forced to withdraw when India launched its own offensive. Longewala was, thus, a decisive battle, says James Hattar

UPA Mourns Osama’s Death

From all the noise coming out of PMO and various other outlets of the UPA, it would seem that the ‘Aman Ki Asha’ brigade of the UPA and some secularist are actively mourning the death of Bin Laden in Pakistan’s heartland. Everyone knew about the ISI / Paki army complicity but they were hell-bent on giving them the benefit of the doubt for their own reasons. The Indian liberal love for Pakistan is a matter of record. Bhutto pleaded that if he went back from Shimla without the POW’s, his life would be in danger. We released them all without anything in return. Sandeep Pandey, jholawalla extraordinaire, went to the extent of saying that the Paki foreign minister should not be pushed too hard by India because he was in political troubles. Wow! Such spirit of forgiveness!! These guys give more leeway to the Pakistanis than they do Bhai Narendra. That is the height of shameless demagoguery. With Bin Laden killed at a stone’s throw from the military college, whatever fig leaf was protecting these perfidious murderers is now blown. Yes, Raju, the Emperor really has no clothes!
The usually glib and shyster Pakistanis are finding it hard to explain and struggling to defend the whole Bin Laden saga. Some brave Pakistani journalists have implied in their writings that the state of Pakistan needs to re-evaluate. However, they are getting support from some unusual sources. The staunchest defender of the Islamic faith, Digvijay Singh has been extremely distressed by the way Bin Laden’s body was disposed. WOW. Just when you thought that the UPA has touched a new low in vote bank politics, they surprise you and dig deeper. Yet another secular icon, Karunanidhi said the path taken by the slain Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden cannot be termed as ‘Islamic terror’ as Islam means peace. Someone in the UPA (I wanted to use an adjective but in the spirit of decency, will refrain) has said that: ‘Pak is not a pushover and the US will learn that’. I would really like to know the name of this fellow. Indian army with lesser resources and detrimental pusillanimous political leaders have kicked the Pakistanis at will. They would have kicked them more if our cowardly leaders had not held them back. The US has all the resources in the world with the best weaponry and leaders with courage. Do the Pakis have a snowball’s chance in hell to stand up to the US might? The guy who has made that statement must have made that statement in extreme frustration. No one can be that stupid.
Now what frustration you ask? Well now his boss, The PM having miserably failed at all fronts had pinned his hopes on improving relations with the Pakistanis so he will have something to show for 10 years in the chair. Other than a sticker which says “Pakistan loves Bin Laden” we have found all indications which establish the Pakistani complicity in all kinds of terrorist activity. How can Manmohan Singh in the absence of the fig leaf justify continuation of the cricket / biryani diplomacy. Despite of all the threats, money and gifts from the US, the Pakistanis did not give up Osama. How do we expect them to give up anyone who was responsible for terror attacks in India. Certainly not for a plate of Biryani or all of Manmohan Singh’s charm. Manmohan Singh needs to be told that national interests are far more important than his legacy.
In his recently published article ‘Lessons for India’ N.V.Subramanian writes ‘The important and obvious lesson in the Bin Laden killing for India is that nothing else matters except the pursuit and accomplishment of core national interests. And the Manmohan Singh government has been wavering on such pursuit, especially in respect of Pakistani terrorism. Unless this national objective is met, India cannot make peace moves with Pakistan. No cricket diplomacy. No Mohali. And certainly no Sharm-el-Sheikh.’

Bin Laden given haven by militants linked to Pakistani security forces
As suspicions grow about how Osama bin Laden spent years living next door to Pakistan’s military, there are indications emerging that the terrorist mastermind was sheltered by one of the militant groups that has enjoyed tolerance, if not support, from Pakistani security services.
A police officer familiar with Mr. Bin Laden’s compound in the scenic town of Abbottabad said the location was used by Hizbul Mujahedeen, one of the biggest militant outfits in the disputed territory of Kashmir. Like other groups fighting Indian troops in the borderlands, HM’s radical membership has never been rounded up by Pakistani forces and some analysts say Islamabad covertly supports the group.

'Pak is not a pushover and the US will learn that'
India not only ruled out the American-style aggression to hunt down enemies, but reiterated that it would continue talks with Pakistan. The Indian establishment is calculating its losses and gains, two days after bin Laden was killed by American Special Forces. "We got the news at around 7.50 am, much before United States President Barrack Obama informed the world around 9 pm," said a highly-placed government source.
India is in favour of continuing talks with Pakistan. India demonstrated resolve to remain rooted to its current policy of "remaining engaged with Pakistan".

Mr. PM, Forget Pakistan. Look East!

As Chacha Ghalib said,
“yeh nah thee hamaaree qismat, kay visaale yaar hota,
agar aur jeete rehte, toh yeh intezaar hota”

This is what went through my mind when I saw Obama’s speech announcing the world that bin Laden is dead. Ten years, lots of lives and a lot of money later, they got their man. Americans had the pleasure of seeing their leader fulfill their promise (Bush made the promise, Obama fulfilled it).

On the other hand, two decades of Pakistani terror, lots of lives and not as much money later, we are still waiting our brave leaders to hang the two terrorists we have in our jails. You can forget about going after the ones not in our custody or going after the Indian enablers of the Pakistani terrorists. That is simply too much to ask from brave men like Manmohan Singh or S M Krishna or Chidambaran. Yes, Ghalib wrote that ghazal for us.

True to Sonia Gandhi’s faith, Manmohan Singh believes in turning the other cheek. While the American and the world is pointing fingers and abusing the Pakistanis, we are still keeping the candle of hope alit. Hope that there will be peace between India and Pakistan. We will be singing songs like they do in Bollywood Urdu movies.

BOVINE FECES!

Manmohan Singh should watch the same news as the rest of the world. Maybe then he will realize that his friends from across the border will eat our biryani and kabab but protect the ones who wish us ill. Every worm that wants to hurt India is being protected by Pakistan. The sooner we realize this the better we will be able to focus our attention on the better parts of our neighborhood.

The country these people should be focusing on is Bangladesh. That small impoverished bit of land on our eastern borders where people still hold their heritage and culture dear rather than pretending to be descendents of Arabs like the bloody Pakistanis. A small but virulent section of Bangladesh has gone the Pakistani way. Unfortunately, the army is part of that travesty. However, most Bangladeshis especially the ones who can read something other than the Koran do not want to have anything to do with the Pakistani / wahabi / Saudi way. As long as we remain cold and aloof to their concerns, we enable Khalida Zia and her goons from BNP and other Islamic thugs.

We need to help out the current administration of Sheikh Hasina and Awami League. We need to give the most favored nation to them rather than the Pakistanis. We need to solve all pending issues including the water issues with them and give credit to the Awami League so that they stay in power indefinitely. That is the only way we can keep our eastern borders safe and keep our Hindu brothers and sister in Bangladesh protected. We also need to help them economically and ensure job creation in the border areas so that we do no get so many illegal immigrants. In fact we should redefine the SAARC and create asuper large economic trade zone, which excludes the Pakistanis. We should let them trade with the Chinese because no one else will. If we cannot bomb them we can hurt them economically. And that is the kind of initiative that we need from our PM. We don’t need him to feed and fete terrorists from Pakistan. That is waster of money and political capital, which he does not have.

Sri Ganesh Of Aam Aadmi Blog: A Year Later

This blog was started a year ago. We would like to thank all of you who have read and supported us. It means a lot to us and makes all the work worthwhile. You and we alike are bound in a common cause alike. A cause where we all would like to see India reach her ambition and fulfill her destiny unfettered by criminal politicians and perverted leftists. Bholenath willing, we shall achieve that one-day. As my friend Swami and I joke, I hope we get to see that or at least the dawn of that day in our life times.

There is no reason why that cannot happen. Yesterday, I was in a chat with a young man who is a member of the Abvp. He sounded passionate and driven. I suggested that he and his people should mobilize all the potential voters and go out to vote in large numbers. The voters should also marginalize the regional parties in central elections and vote for the conservative option.

The way his blog started is a small but interesting story. A year ago I wrote a letter to my friends. Swami Thambi was one of the recipients. He was so moved by my pain and passion, that he decided to do something about it. He brought to fruition an idea we had been bandying about for a while. He posted the letter on a blog, which we called the Aam Aadmi blog. We have been told that the Congress uses the Aam Aadmi moniker but that is their arrogance. When they come to power with 25% votes they have no business claiming the support of the aam aadmi.

Anyway, I beseech you to read my letter, which started it all. It will tell you the reason behind our madness. On behalf of our contributers, Sanjay, Swami, Suchitra and Vidur, I would like to thank you in advance. I would also like to thank our friend NM for all his support over he year.

A HUMBLE APPEAL

It took me awhile to compose this letter. PLEASE read it. If you think that I make sense then feel free to forward the BlogSpot to others as well.
I am not much for poetry. Prose is more my style. But the following poem by Vijay Tendulkar has touched me deeply. It captures an emotion that I have felt more times in my life than I care to remember. The feeling of absolute helplessness and impotent anger!! Please read and find out for yourself.

Chakravyuh mein ghusne se pehle,
kaun tha mein aur kaisa tha,
yeh mujhe yaad hi na rahega.
Chakravyuh mein ghusne ke baad,
mere aur chakravyuh ke beech,
sirf ek jaanleva nikat’ta thi,
iska mujhe pata hi na chalega.
Chakravyuh se nikalne ke baad,
main mukt ho jaoon bhale hi,
phir bhi chakravyuh ki rachna mein
farq hi na padega.
Marun ya maarun,
maara jaoon ya jaan se maardun.
iska faisla kabhi na ho paayega.
Soya hua aadmi jab
neend se uthkar chalna shuru karta hai,
tab sapnon ka sansar use,
dobara dikh hi na paayega.
Us roshni mein jo nirnay ki roshni hai
sab kuchh s’maan hoga kya?
Ek palde mein napunsakta,
ek palde mein paurush,
aur theek taraazu ke kaante par
ardh satya.

A very dear friend called me recently expressing his extreme anger at a news report, which was of course extremely biased. After discussing with him, I told him about the Tendulkar poem and told him that there are ways to express your anger and punish those who have wronged you in ways that do not include a weapon. The question to ponder is:

“What does a common man do in face of extreme injustice???”

One of the many things that time spent in the US has taught me is that a common man counts especially when the common man finds his voice and other who are on the same page as them. That is what democracy is all about. If Mayawati is ruining the state of UP, it is up to the people of UP to unite and vote her out. At least talk to people around you and get them to see the light. If Salman Khan crushes seven people and gets away with it, stop watching his movies. Boycott the guy totally. He WILL get the message. If you think that IPL and the people involved are crooked then do not watch it. YOU HAVE OPTIONS!!

Trouble with information dissemination in India is that the media is very biased. We all have been brought up on a steady dose of Macaulayite education, which imbibes in you the wrong notion that until you think like a Gora Sahib, you cannot be correct. The day we start speaking English, we feel obliged to deem everything Indian and Hindu incorrect and beneath us. That, folks, was the genius of Lord Macaulay who knew the only way to rule a civilized country like India was to make the natives doubt their own civilization.

The British ruled us and left us with the legacy of Macaulay and his legacy, which was very effectively continued, by Nehru and the Congress. Secularism became a weapon in the hands of these demagogues. The education system and the curriculum were tailored to suit for the Congress party rule. Their stooges ran the schools, colleges and the media. Imagine that I only found out about the Moplah andolan only recently- an event, which cost thousands of Hindu lives. Why do you think that is? The answer is simple-Vote bank politics? That is why the congress rules the country with only 23 to 27% votes.

What does one do about this grave injustice? Well, we find out who are the people who are responsible for the selective dissemination of information. The answer is – The Leftist Media. People like Pronnoy Roy use NDTV and its cheap sensationalistic style to shove falsehood down your throat. They selectively show the news that hurts and demonizes every conservative Hindu causes and people standing for it. Magazines like India today and Tehelka are nothing but journalistic porn, catering to the lowest common denominator of the society. Therefore the onus is upon us to educate people we care for and ourselves.

Every house I know in India subscribes to Times of India or Indian Express or Hindustan Times. Have you ever paid attention to the obvious bias shown by these rags? They are just like the Indian communists and leftists who, on the drop of a hat, will cry a river for a religious minority but not for Hindu dalits. The congress govt. is busy targeting CM Narendra Modi and Sadhvi Pragya while the Indian sympathizers of the 26/11 and every other terrorist attacks run free. Their mouthpieces, i.e. these rags only express fabricated rage while keep the Muslim incited riots like the one in Bareilly quite. I could go on forever exposing these false prophets but that is not the point of my email.
You have to identify the liars and the crooks and the cheats and hurt them where it hurts – The Pocket. Stop patronizing them. Do not watch their movies or TV stations or read their books or anything that helps them gain fame and money?

As far as the newspapers are concerned, I have found (I skim through more than 15 newspapers from various countries everyday – this is not a brag but confession of a debilitating addiction) that the only newspaper in India worth your time is The Daily Pioneer. It is objective and speaks the truth. The op-eds are informative and people who write them seem like genuine patriots.

Please cancel your subscription to TOI, or Express or HT and start reading Pioneer. You may not see pretty girls but you will get the truth.
