UPA Mourns Osama’s Death

From all the noise coming out of PMO and various other outlets of the UPA, it would seem that the ‘Aman Ki Asha’ brigade of the UPA and some secularist are actively mourning the death of Bin Laden in Pakistan’s heartland. Everyone knew about the ISI / Paki army complicity but they were hell-bent on giving them the benefit of the doubt for their own reasons. The Indian liberal love for Pakistan is a matter of record. Bhutto pleaded that if he went back from Shimla without the POW’s, his life would be in danger. We released them all without anything in return. Sandeep Pandey, jholawalla extraordinaire, went to the extent of saying that the Paki foreign minister should not be pushed too hard by India because he was in political troubles. Wow! Such spirit of forgiveness!! These guys give more leeway to the Pakistanis than they do Bhai Narendra. That is the height of shameless demagoguery. With Bin Laden killed at a stone’s throw from the military college, whatever fig leaf was protecting these perfidious murderers is now blown. Yes, Raju, the Emperor really has no clothes!
The usually glib and shyster Pakistanis are finding it hard to explain and struggling to defend the whole Bin Laden saga. Some brave Pakistani journalists have implied in their writings that the state of Pakistan needs to re-evaluate. However, they are getting support from some unusual sources. The staunchest defender of the Islamic faith, Digvijay Singh has been extremely distressed by the way Bin Laden’s body was disposed. WOW. Just when you thought that the UPA has touched a new low in vote bank politics, they surprise you and dig deeper. Yet another secular icon, Karunanidhi said the path taken by the slain Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden cannot be termed as ‘Islamic terror’ as Islam means peace. Someone in the UPA (I wanted to use an adjective but in the spirit of decency, will refrain) has said that: ‘Pak is not a pushover and the US will learn that’. I would really like to know the name of this fellow. Indian army with lesser resources and detrimental pusillanimous political leaders have kicked the Pakistanis at will. They would have kicked them more if our cowardly leaders had not held them back. The US has all the resources in the world with the best weaponry and leaders with courage. Do the Pakis have a snowball’s chance in hell to stand up to the US might? The guy who has made that statement must have made that statement in extreme frustration. No one can be that stupid.
Now what frustration you ask? Well now his boss, The PM having miserably failed at all fronts had pinned his hopes on improving relations with the Pakistanis so he will have something to show for 10 years in the chair. Other than a sticker which says “Pakistan loves Bin Laden” we have found all indications which establish the Pakistani complicity in all kinds of terrorist activity. How can Manmohan Singh in the absence of the fig leaf justify continuation of the cricket / biryani diplomacy. Despite of all the threats, money and gifts from the US, the Pakistanis did not give up Osama. How do we expect them to give up anyone who was responsible for terror attacks in India. Certainly not for a plate of Biryani or all of Manmohan Singh’s charm. Manmohan Singh needs to be told that national interests are far more important than his legacy.
In his recently published article ‘Lessons for India’ N.V.Subramanian writes ‘The important and obvious lesson in the Bin Laden killing for India is that nothing else matters except the pursuit and accomplishment of core national interests. And the Manmohan Singh government has been wavering on such pursuit, especially in respect of Pakistani terrorism. Unless this national objective is met, India cannot make peace moves with Pakistan. No cricket diplomacy. No Mohali. And certainly no Sharm-el-Sheikh.’

Bin Laden given haven by militants linked to Pakistani security forces
As suspicions grow about how Osama bin Laden spent years living next door to Pakistan’s military, there are indications emerging that the terrorist mastermind was sheltered by one of the militant groups that has enjoyed tolerance, if not support, from Pakistani security services.
A police officer familiar with Mr. Bin Laden’s compound in the scenic town of Abbottabad said the location was used by Hizbul Mujahedeen, one of the biggest militant outfits in the disputed territory of Kashmir. Like other groups fighting Indian troops in the borderlands, HM’s radical membership has never been rounded up by Pakistani forces and some analysts say Islamabad covertly supports the group.

'Pak is not a pushover and the US will learn that'
India not only ruled out the American-style aggression to hunt down enemies, but reiterated that it would continue talks with Pakistan. The Indian establishment is calculating its losses and gains, two days after bin Laden was killed by American Special Forces. "We got the news at around 7.50 am, much before United States President Barrack Obama informed the world around 9 pm," said a highly-placed government source.
India is in favour of continuing talks with Pakistan. India demonstrated resolve to remain rooted to its current policy of "remaining engaged with Pakistan".
